Vineyard Planting Day – Volunteers Needed!

Please come join us and support our program by helping us replant a 1 acre demonstration vineyard.  We will be planting bare root cabernet franc and merlot wine grapes.  Get a chance to learn the first steps in developing a vineyard and check out what DFI is doing.  We will be planting over 800 vines!

The Desert Farming Initiative is planting a new acre of vineyard as part of a grant funded project, funded by the NV Department of Agriculture, Specialty Crop Block Grant. After many years of research in the original research vineyard at the NV Ag Experiment Station, and grape research conducted in other high altitudes, DFI has selected to plant Cabernet Franc and Merlot, which when blended are known as a Bordeaux wine.
