A Farmcorps member harvests lettuce for a Lettuce Tasting held in the Down Under Cafe at the University of Nevada, Reno. The tasting gave students a sneak peek at the organic, locally grown greens the HDFI will be providing UNR dining facilities in a few short weeks.
Despite the cold weather quickly rolling through Northern Nevada, our greens are thriving and looking better than ever. We’re hopeful for generous harvests throughout the winter season.
The first crop of our greens are starting to come in. This bed is planted with Mizuna that is used in salad mixes.
The last of the hoop house covers are going on!
On Saturday, August 24th, a group of volunteers got together to cover the first hoop house. . .
The frames of the hoop houses have been finished! Soil will be moved in over the next week and the covers will be installed on the 24th. Planting will begin soon. . .

The supports for the first of six new hoop houses were put in place today. Progress!
The supports for our six additional hoop houses are being assembled on-site.
The construction crews have started digging the footings for the HDFI hoop houses! Construction is due to be completed by the end of June.
